International Monetary Fund Hails The DBT Scheme As A ‘Logistical Marvel’

Amid the gloom and doom predictions, there was one bright spot in the Fiscal Affairs Department press briefing of the IMF. Both the Director and the Deputy Director of the department were effusive in their praise of India’s ‘direct cash transfer scheme’ which has delivered cash benefits to hundreds of millions of poor across the country. The IMF praised the technological innovations and their applications in improving the lives of the poor and said the scheme, along with others, is being tweaked for use in other countries.
