On June 8, 1948, Air India's first flight took off from Mumbai for London. It was a milestone in the history of civil aviation. The aircraft landed in London via Cairo and Geneva on June 10 after covering a distance of 5000 miles. The Lockheed Constellation L-749A was called Malabar Princess.
