India's gross domestic product (GDP) grew at a slower pace at 4.1 per cent in the January- March quarter, according to the data released by Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation (MoSPI) on Tuesday. The slow growth is mostly due to soaring prices and the subsequent hit to consumer spending and investments, according to analysts.

The central government said that it has cleared the entire amount of GST compensation payable to states up to May 31, 2022 by releasing an amount of Rs 86,912 crore. This decision was taken to assist the states in managing their resources and ensuring that their programmes especially the expenditure on capital is carried out successfully during the financial year, the Ministry of Finance said in a statement.

British luxury carmaker Land Rover has unveiled the latest version of its SUV ‘Defender 130’, the longest iteration of the vehicle and can house eight adult humans. The Tata Motors’ subsidiary says that the new Defender’s body has been extended 340mm to create an additional row of seating - two up front, three in the middle, and three in the back.

Breaking the previous record of 5.3 million personal computers in a quarter (Q3 2021), the Indian PC industry shipped 5.8 million units in Q1 2022 alone. It was a 48 per cent increase in the same quarter as compared to last year, says technology analysis firm Canalys.

Amid the long-standing adverse claims experience of the government schemes like Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), and to make them economically viable, the premium rates of both - PMJJBY and PMSBY schemes - have been revised from Rs 330 to Rs 436 and Rs 12 to Rs 20 respectively, from June 1, 2022.
