AI assistants are becoming increasingly similar, with ChatGPT and Claude now offering many of the same capabilities. ChatGPT has added features such as Projects, Skills and Computer Use, while Canvas can also create interactive React and HTML experiences.
However, some differences remain. Several capabilities in Anthropic’s chatbot give it an edge in specific situations, particularly for mobile users and those who want greater control over their personal context.
Claude can work directly with iPhone apps
One major advantage is Claude’s ability to interact with native iPhone apps. It can prepare a message in Apple Messages, draft an email in Mail, create an Apple Calendar event, add reminders or send a location to Maps.

You get an option to review the action before iOS hands it over to the relevant app. This means you can turn something discussed with Claude into a calendar event without manually switching between apps. The feature is available across Claude plans, while Android users get additional controls such as alarms and timers.
Moving your AI memory is easier
Switching AI assistants can mean leaving behind months of personalised context. Claude offers a memory-import process that lets you ask another AI to summarise what it knows about you, review that information and then transfer it to Claude.

Anthropic also allows users to view or export Claude’s memory. ChatGPT lets users view and edit saved memories, but does not currently offer a comparable dedicated migration process.
Incognito mode keeps personalisation
Claude’s Incognito chats are not added to your chat history, but the assistant can still use your profile, preferences and memory. ChatGPT’s Temporary Chat, by comparison, starts with a blank slate, although enabled custom instructions continue to apply.
Live dashboards and AI-powered Artifacts
Claude’s Live Artifacts can create persistent dashboards that refresh information from connected apps and local files. They can track projects, show calendars or monitor regularly updated reports.
Claude can also build AI-powered Artifacts without requiring the creator to manage an API key. These can function as tutors, writing coaches, quizzes or interactive tools, with usage charged to each user’s Claude account.
For now, these capabilities make Claude a useful companion alongside ChatGPT rather than necessarily a replacement.
