EXCLUSIVE: FM Nirmala Sitharaman Says New Income Tax Laws To Simplify Filing

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman gives more details of one of the most anticipated laws of our times – the new Income Tax Bill which is to be tabled in Parliament in the next few days. Speaking about the new legislation in her exclusive appearance at the India Today-Business Today Budget Round Table 2025, the Finance Minister said the current income tax laws had become bulky because of continuous additions in the past 60 years. The new laws will make the income tax process “straight-forward”. The Bill will be tabled in Parliament in the next few days and will, according to the FM, sent to the concerned standing committee for review. “We hope to pass the Bill in the extended Budget Session itself”, the FM said.
