Retail Inflation falls to 4.6% in Dec from 6.9% in Nov 2020

Retail price inflation, measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI), fell to 4.6 per cent in December 2020 from 6.9 per cent in November 2020. This is the lowest inflation recorded in the last 15 months.

Inflation in urban India fell to 5.2 per cent from 6.7 per cent in November 2020.

CPI inflation in rural India declined to 4.1 per cent from 7.2 per cent.

At the all-India level, inflation in the food & beverages group fell to 3.9 per cent in December 2020 from 8.9 per cent in November 2020.

Inflation in the pan, tobacco and intoxicants group rose to 10.74 per cent from 10.42 per cent in November 2020.

CPI for Clothing & footwear group increased to 3.5 per cent from 3.4 per cent. Inflation in miscellaneous items fell to 6.6 per cent from 7 per cent.

Housing inflation stood at 3.21 per cent. It has risen from 3.19 per cent in Nov 2020.
