UK Deal Signed, But U.S. Trade Deal Much Bigger in Scale and Intent, Says Dr Mukesh Aghi

Dr. Mukesh Aghi, President & CEO of USISPF, noted that while the India–UK FTA is a positive step, it is modest in scale compared to India’s trade relationship with the U.S., which is nearly ten times larger. He highlighted that U.S. companies see India as a strategic manufacturing hub to de-risk supply chains from China. Aghi emphasized that the scope, objectives, and complexity of the U.S.–India trade discussions are far greater. While the UK deal concluded after years of talks, the U.S. negotiations, under President Trump’s await his direction on the next steps.
