SEBI has cracked down on alleged manipulation of the Sensex Closing Auction Session (CAS), barring Coptthall Mauritius Investment and Mansi Share & Stock Broking from the securities markets. The regulator has ordered the impounding of nearly ₹3.68 crore in alleged wrongful gains. Business Today’s Nachiket Kelkar explains that the action follows an examination of trading activity during the Sensex weekly expiry on August 13, when three significant spikes were observed in the indicative equilibrium price. SEBI is also closely monitoring the newly introduced CAS and has asked brokers to accept investor orders during the initial five-minute transition period to smooth the process.
