The UAE claims it intercepted nearly 90% of missiles and drones fired by Iran, thanks to its advanced, multi-layered air defence system. At the top tier is THAAD, a U.S.-supplied system designed to intercept long-range ballistic missiles at high altitudes. The mid-layer is the Patriot PAC-3, which targets tactical ballistic and cruise missiles within the atmosphere, strengthening overall coverage. At the lowest tier, the Pantsir-S1 provides close-range protection against drones and precision-guided threats. Together, these systems create a powerful, integrated shield often called a “sky guardian” capable of countering complex, modern aerial attacks with precision and reliability.
