Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Saturday said the government plans to spend Rs 2.46 lakh crore (US $40 billion) on the defence sector in the 2015-16 financial year.
Jaitley made the statement when presenting the Prime Minsiter Narendra Modi-led government's maiden full-year Budget in the Lok Sabha.
