At the Adani_BTIndia@100 Summit, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and Rural Development, spoke about the revolutionary changes in Indian agriculture over the past decade under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He outlined a strategic roadmap aimed at doubling farmers' incomes while ensuring the country's food security. Chouhan emphasized necessitating a robust agricultural strategy. He highlighted the potential for India not only to meet its domestic food needs but also to become the food basket of the world, noting the country’s significant export achievements, such as the ₹4,000 crore rice export. The Minister stressed the importance of increasing production, reducing costs, ensuring fair prices for crops, and addressing the challenges posed by climate change. He also called for diversification in farming, moving beyond traditional crops like wheat and rice to include other high-value crops, while also promoting organic and natural farming practices. Chouhan shared his vision for enhancing irrigation infrastructure.
