Facebook Messenger has achieved a key milestone of 1 billion people using its Messenger app every month.
Facebook had faced criticism when it created a separate Messenger app in 2014. But, with new record breaking numbers, it seems the idea to develop a separate Messenger app has worked.
Apart from expanding Facebook's reach, hitting more than one billion users could help the company attract brands to the Messenger app.
"People use Messenger to connect with the people and businesses they care most about. Today we are announcing that more than 1 billion people now use Facebook Messenger every month," the company said thanking its users.
"Thank you for using Messenger and being part of our one-billion-strong community," it added.
