Kwid spearheads Renault's expansion plans
The automaker will start exports of Kwid to South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation countries and the car's parts to Brazil from March onwards.

French auto major Renault's Kwid which was launched four months back, has reportedly received an overwhelming response with more than one lakh bookings in the domestic market.
The company is now banking upon Kwid to spearhead its expansion in the domestic and overseas market.

- The automaker will start exports of Kwid to South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries and the car's parts to Brazil from March onwards.
- The company is exploring African countries for exports, Renault India country CEO and Managing Director Sumit Sawhney said.
- The company is on target to have five per cent market share in the domestic market by 2016 end. Its current market share stands at 4.5 per cent in February.
- Ramp up production of Kwid at its alliance factory with Nissan in Oragadam near Chennai to reach production of 10,000 units per month. Right now the company is making about 6,000 units (per month) of Kwid. "We want to increase it to 8,000 units (per month) and by March we will be crossing 10,000 units," Renault India Country CEO and MD Sumit Sawhney said.
- The company would cross over one lakh total Renault sales in 2016, Sawhney said.
- The company will expand its distribution network to 240 by 2016 end, covering 96 per cent of the market.
- It showcased one-litre engine capacity Kwid car variant at the Auto Expo 2016, which will be launched this year.
- Renault plans to introduce a mobile workshop. The mobile workshop will be a proper workshop that can service around six cars a day and can reach smaller towns for servicing.
- Renault cars are capable and ready to meet the Bharat Stage VI (BS CI) emission norms by 2020, the company said.
