VinFast is now India's No. 4 electric car brand, ahead of Kia, Maruti and Hyundai

Listing sites expect smaller, cheaper VinFast models this month: the VF5 at around ₹12 lakh and the VF3 at around ₹10 lakh. The company hasn't confirmed those dates in anything we reviewed. If they arrive at those prices, VinFast would enter a far larger part of the market. November's registrations will show whether October was a festive spike.

Tata registered 14,669 electric cars in October, Mahindra 8,542 and MG 5,940. VinFast's total was about 43% of MG's and 18% of Tata's. So the rise is real, but the gap is wide. AutoPunditz puts October's market up 77% year on year.

VinFast's factory at Thoothukudi in Tamil Nadu can make 50,000 vehicles a year, and it can be expanded to 1,50,000, EVFY reported in January. Local production avoids the import duty that fully built cars face. That report also counted more than 25 dealerships and 80 service centres. These figures are from January, so the network should be rechecked.

Autocar India lists the VF6 at ₹18.19-20.09 lakh, the VF7 at ₹22.99-28.09 lakh and the VF MPV 7 at ₹24.49 lakh. The company now covers more than one segment. That's a different approach from Tesla, whose Model Y Premium RWD starts at ₹50.89 lakh. Autocar India's listing doesn't give a Limo Green price.

VinFast's own September dispatches show where the volume is coming from. It sent 1,853 units to dealers, up from 376 a year earlier. The Limo Green made up 850 of those, or 45.9%. The VF7 followed with 625 and the VF6 with 323. Dispatches differ from registrations, so these figures can't be added to the October number.

Kia registered 1,395 electric cars in October, Maruti Suzuki 1,200, Hyundai 760 and BYD 737. VinFast's total was more than three times Hyundai's. Kia and Maruti together came to 2,595, just 24 more than VinFast alone.

VinFast registered 2,571 electric cars in India in October 2026, according to Vahan data compiled by AutoPunditz. That gave it fourth place and a 7.1% share of the 36,064 units in the brand table. Only Tata, Mahindra and MG sold more. For a brand that had sold about 830 EVs in India in all of 2025, the rise has been quick.
