A litre of petrol costs ₹117.51 in Andhra Pradesh and ₹88.66 in Andaman and Nicobar, according to Goodreturns' state table. That's a ₹28.85 difference on the same fuel. The table was dated 27 October, and reports show major city prices unchanged on 5 November. Each state figure represents one listed rate, so local prices can differ.

Costliest are Andhra Pradesh, Telangana at ₹116.15, Kerala at ₹115.49, Madhya Pradesh at ₹114.54 and West Bengal at ₹113.51. Cheapest are Andaman and Nicobar, Arunachal Pradesh at ₹97.96, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu at ₹99.44, Uttarakhand at ₹99.54 and Chandigarh at ₹101.54.

The Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell lists Andaman and Nicobar at just 1%. Telangana charges 35.20% VAT. Andhra Pradesh charges 31%, plus ₹4 a litre and a ₹1 road cess. Delhi is at 19.40%. Because VAT is charged on a base that includes freight and central duty, higher rates compound through the final price.

The biggest gaps are often next door. Uttar Pradesh is ₹101.86, while neighbouring Madhya Pradesh is ₹114.54, a difference of ₹12.68 a litre. Chandigarh's ₹101.54 sits ₹4.02 below Punjab's rate. Hyderabad's ₹116.15 is ₹4.47 above Bengaluru's. State lines can matter more than distance.

Take a 40-litre tank. In Andaman, that's about ₹3,546. In Delhi, it's ₹4,085, and in Andhra Pradesh, ₹4,700. So the same fill costs ₹1,154 more in Andhra Pradesh than in Andaman, and about ₹616 more than in Delhi. These are simple multiples of the listed rates, with no card or loyalty offers.

Brent settled at $94.62 on 4 November after falling 8.7% that day, and it was down nearly 20% for the week, HDFC Sky reports. Delhi petrol has stayed at ₹102.12 since four hikes in May took it up from about ₹94.74. Oil companies were reported to be losing about ₹600 crore a day after those hikes, though that figure dates from May.

No price cut has been announced. A one-week fall may not stay, and HDFC Sky notes that renewed escalation remains a risk in West Asia. Watch whether Brent holds below $100 and whether the rupee recovers. Any state VAT change would alter your local price directly, so check your state's rate as well as the oil company's.
