Bejoy Nambiar's drama thriller, written by Abhijat Joshi and Vidhu Vinod Chopra, opened to an average start at the box office. The film is intense in its genre and has Amitabh Bachchan and Farhan Akhtar in pivotal roles. The films is the first big release of 2016 and also stars Aditi Rao Hydari, Neil Nitin Mukesh and John Abraham as supporting characters.

Though the film has been immensely appreciated by the critics, it could not garner as much attention as it was expected to be. The film saw only 15% opening on the first day, thereby collecting Rs 5.40 crore on the first day of its release. The film depicts the story of an Anti-Terrorism Squad officer (Farhan Akhtar) and a disabled man (Amitabh Bachchan) and how two wounded men form a bond of friendship based on their mutual circumstances.

Wazir posted good growth on Saturday as it grossed 7 crore nett. On Sunday, the movie collection grew marginally to Rs 7.5 crore.  The movie could not sustain its growth momentum and business fell on Monday to Rs 2.5 cr, taking the four day business to Rs 22.4 crore. It continued its poor show on Tuesday and collected Rs 2.1 crore.
