Amazon has launched a new Kindle ebook reader, Oasis, touted to be the thinnest and lightest Kindle ever designed by the company. Boasting a rectangular design with curved back, it has been designed for one-handed reading. The device has an ergonomic handgrip, shifting the centre of gravity to the palm.

It is over 20 per cent lighter and 30 per cent thinner on average than any other Kindle. Oasis is comfortable to read on with either hand-a built-in accelerometer detects whether you are reading with your left or right hand, and automatically rotates the page and page turn buttons to match.

It has a 6 inch high-resolution 300 PPI display with crisp, laser quality text. It even reads like real paper and without glare in direct sunlight as well.  Amazon claims to have added longest battery life, including leather charging cover boosting battery to last months. There is also a dual-battery charging system, where you can charge the device and cover simultaneously when plugged in. When not plugged in, the cover will charge the Kindle's built-in battery.
