Xiaomi launches Mi 5 at Rs 24,999 in India

Xiaomi on Thursday announced the launch of its next flagship smartphone, Mi 5 in the India market. The smartphone was launched last month at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and went on sale in the China market on March 1.
Priced at Rs 24,999, the device will go on sale in India starting April 6 and will be available on Mi.com.
Launching the device, Hugo Barra, Vice President, Xiaomi, said: "We are so excited to bring to India the most beautiful device we have unveiled so far, and only within a month of its global launch. Mi 5 is the perfect embodiment of high performance and a beautiful, lightweight design. It has been in the making for 19 months, and has several tech breakthroughs built into it, like the 4-axis OIS camera."
Mi5 has a 3D glass body made from Corning Gorilla Glass 4. It features a 5.15 inch full HD (1080p) display with sunlight display mode for improved outdoor visibility and reading mode.
The smartphone is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor and is paired with 3GB RAM. It comes with 32GB of internal storage with no paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Unfortunately, there is no expandable storage option via microSD card. It boasts a 16MP rear camera with 4k video capture support and four axis OIS technology and auto focus.
There is also a 4MP front facing camera.
Connectivity options include two nano-SIM slots, WiFi, Bluetooth, NFC and LTE support. It also has an IR blaster, Type C charging port and supports Quick Charge 3.0. The device is 7.25mm thick and weights 129 grams. It packs in a 3000mAh battery and a front fingerprint sensor on the home button.
Xiaomi is offering a limited period accidental damage for Rs 499 for a year for Mi 5.
