Meta's 'technical glitch' removes PM Modi post from Facebook; Officials likely to be summoned

A video shared on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Facebook account was removed on July 28, 2026, by Meta. The video was published on July 23 and addressed Generation Z during a 36-day student protest organised by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP). Meta has now acknowledged the removal of the video and claimed that it was an “error” and says that it has been restored.

Meta Spokesperson told Business Today that "The content was removed in error and has since been restored."

Meta has also apologised for the removal of the video post, claiming that it was a technical glitch. Sources say that “It was removed due to a technical glitch.” However, the government is taking it very seriously, and officials will likely be summoned. 

In the video, PM Modi said, "stricter action against paper leaks will be announced at tomorrow's Cabinet meeting," and it gained millions of views over 4 days. However, the video post was removed by Meta, and Facebook indicated that access had been restricted because of what looked like a legal or government request, and not because the content violated Facebook's rules.
