Claude faces outage: Users report response errors across app, web (resolved)

Anthropic's Claude experienced a major outage across web and app services for a brief period of time. Hundreds of users reported issues with generating responses, accessing the platform, and encountering errors while using Claude. The company also acknowledged the outage and resolved the issue across models and platforms. 

On the Downdetector platform, Claude had nearly 500 user reports of outages, with complaints largely centred around response errors and difficulties accessing the service. At Claude's Service page, the company also acknowledged the issue, saying that "We are investigating elevated errors on requests to Claude Mythos 5, Claude Fable 5, Claude Opus 5, and Claude Opus 4.8. We will provide an update as soon as possible."

In a few minutes, the company shared an update saying that they have identified the issue and that they are working to fix the error. Meanwhile, Downdetector showed that Claude Chat was the most affected service, accounting for 51% of the reported problems. Claude Code accounted for another 27% of complaints, and the Claude app made up 14% of reports.

Users also experienced problems with Claude’s website, login system, API access and performance. This suggests the outage was not limited to one part of Claude but affected several services across Anthropic’s platform. On social media, users said they were getting response errors when trying to submit prompts. Some users also reported other difficulties while using Claude. 

Claude services restored

After nearly two hours of disruption, Anthropic shared an update saying the issue has been resolved, and services will gradually start to be restored. "This issue has been resolved," the company service page said.
