Xiaomi hasonce again decided not to sell their top product in India. Accordingto the six-year-old Chinese smartphone manufacturer, they won't be bringing thenew Mi Note 2 and Mi Mix to the Indian market.

"As acompany we have been around for two years in India. We still have a very smallportfolio (there). We have one flagship (phone) per year and this year it isthe Xiaomi Mi 5. Next year we will have another flagship phone. The flagshipphone market in India is still very small... we want to keep flagship portfoliovery tight in India so the new phones are only for the China market," HugoBarra, company's vice president for international operations said in China.

The XiaomiMi Note 2 and the Mi Mix are being stated as game changing devices in thesmartphone industry, even in developed countries like USA, Xiaomi has startedmaking a mark in terms of reliable flagship devices, but the company isstruggling with the surge in demand. Xiaomi is still focusing on its hugenative market, China which also happens to be one of the biggest smartphone market inthe world.

Mi5 isXiaomi's current flagship in the country but it failed to keep up with thecompetition like OnePlus 3 at the time of launch and now, faces tough competition from the Lenovo Z2 Plus andLeEco Le Max2 despite a substantial price cut. Xiaomi's performance has beenexceptional in the mid-low range segment for the Indian market but it isdefinitely losing ground in the fast-growing flagship segment.

The movehas left Xiaomi fans disappointed in India with the company facing a lot ofcritique for launching devices in India that are nearing the end of their life-cycles or are the low-end versions of devices sold in China. Though the company has mentioned the importance of Indian market, ithas failed to cater to an entire segment of premium-phone buyers.

On theother hand, companies like Apple and even Google, with the new Pixel, areprompt in releasing their flagship devices in India. Apple reported a sales growth ofalmost 50 per cent in the Indian market this year. The Cupertino Gianthas time and again emphasized on the importance of India as a market and itcontinues to seep in by collaborating with India's biggest e-tailer, Flipkart.
