These 6 airport cities are getting a ₹20,000 crore boost from Adani
Adani Airport City Limited has unveiled plans to develop integrated airport city projects across six airports in five states with an initial investment of more than ₹20,000 crore. The programme is aimed at building connected urban districts that support passenger services, jobs and city growth.

Adani Airport Holdings Ltd (AAHL) has unveiled plans to invest more than ₹20,000 crore in the first phase of developing integrated airport cities across six airports in India, as the company looks to transform airports into commercial and urban hubs beyond aviation.
The project will span more than 655 acres across airports in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Jaipur and Guwahati, with around 22 million sq. ft. of mixed-use development planned in the first phase. Nearly 70% of the investment will be concentrated in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, reflecting the strategic importance of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region as India's largest commercial and aviation gateway.
The development will be undertaken by Adani Airport City Ltd (AACL), a wholly owned subsidiary of AAHL.
The proposed airport cities will integrate hotels, office spaces, retail outlets, restaurants, entertainment venues and convention centres within walkable districts connected to airports, metro networks and urban transport systems. According to the company, the model draws inspiration from globally established airport districts such as Singapore Changi, Dubai International, Amsterdam Schiphol and Seoul Incheon.

"Around the world, the most successful airport districts have become centres of commerce, tourism and urban growth. As India's aviation market expands, airports have an opportunity to create value far beyond aviation," said Jeet Adani, Director, AAHL.
He said the company aims to create integrated urban destinations where airports become catalysts for investment, employment, better passenger experiences and long-term city development.
Unlike conventional real estate projects, the Airport City model is designed as an extension of the airport ecosystem rather than standalone commercial developments. By combining hospitality, workplaces, retail, entertainment and convention infrastructure within a single master-planned environment, AAHL expects the projects to generate economic activity while enhancing passenger convenience.

As part of the initiative, the company has already signed hotel management agreements with IHG Hotels & Resorts to develop five luxury and premium hotels, including the India debut of the Kimpton brand. AAHL is also in discussions with domestic and international partners across hospitality, food and beverage, retail and entertainment.
Sustainability has also been built into the project. According to the company, all Airport City developments have received LEED Gold pre-certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, with a focus on energy efficiency, sustainable design, walkability and high-quality public spaces.
At the launch event, AACL also recognised several project partners involved in planning and execution, including Kohn Pedersen Fox (KPF), Benoy, Znera Space, Larsen & Toubro (L&T), Tata Projects, PSP Projects, CBRE, JLL and Cushman & Wakefield.
