Biography

Shiv Nadar, founder of HCL Technologies, is one of India’s most influential technology pioneers. Born in Tamil Nadu and educated at PSG Tech, he launched HCL in 1976, starting with calculators and microprocessors before pivoting into IT services. Today, HCL is a $35 billion global technology giant with operations in 50+ countries. Known for foresight in software exports, Nadar built HCL into one of India’s top IT firms. Equally renowned for philanthropy, he founded the Shiv Nadar Foundation, which funds institutions like SSN College, VidyaGyan schools, and Kiran Nadar Museum of Art. His daughter, Roshni Nadar Malhotra, now chairs HCL, ensuring family continuity. A Padma Bhushan recipient, Nadar is respected worldwide for combining technological innovation with a deep commitment to education and nation-building.
