Biography

Sunil Bharti Mittal, founder and chairman of Bharti Enterprises, revolutionized Indian telecom with Airtel, launched in 1995. Beginning with bicycle parts in Ludhiana, Mittal shifted into telecom, scaling Airtel across India and into Africa through the acquisition of Zain Africa in 2010. Beyond telecom, Bharti has interests in insurance, retail, and real estate. With a fortune above $14 billion, he is a global business leader and philanthropist. The Bharti Foundation funds schools and education programs for underprivileged children. Honored with the Padma Bhushan, international business awards, and former ICC chairmanship, Mittal remains one of India’s most respected corporate leaders.
