Biography

Born in 1962 in Ahmedabad, Gautam Adani is the founder and chairman of Adani Group, India’s largest infrastructure conglomerate with interests across ports, logistics, power, renewables, airports, and cement. Leaving college early, he sharpened his business instincts in Mumbai’s diamond market before launching Adani Enterprises in 1988. His bold vision transformed Mundra into India’s largest commercial port and expanded into power, mining, and global projects such as Australia’s Abbot Point port and Carmichael coal mine. Today, Adani Group runs ten listed companies and has pledged $70 billion toward renewables by 2030. His wealth once touched $150 billion and stands near $60 billion in 2025 after regulatory scrutiny and market swings. Married to Priti Adani, chair of the Adani Foundation, he is a strong advocate of rural education and health. Sons Karan and Jeet play leading roles in group strategy. Adani has featured in Time 100 and Forbes, earning recognition for his transformative influence on Indian business and economic policy.
