During the ongoing Winter Session of Parliament, Congress MP Manish Tewari raised concerns about India's foreign relations, emphasizing the "India First" policy. He pointed out that while India follows a "Neighbourhood First" policy, many neighboring countries appear to prioritize their relations with China. He highlighted that the newly elected President of the Maldives visited India only as the eighth country, following an anti-India campaign, and that Nepal's Prime Minister visited China first and signed the Belt and Road Initiative. Tewari also mentioned China's significant debt hold in Sri Lanka and the ongoing Sino-Bhutan border negotiations.
