Jawaharlal Nehru University has once again become the centre of a political controversy after alleged slogan-raising videos surfaced on campus. The protest followed the Supreme Court’s refusal to grant bail to Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam and marked six years since the 2020 campus attack. The JNU administration has filed a police complaint against student leaders and warned of strict disciplinary action, including suspension and expulsion. While the BJP accused protesters of extremism, Left-backed student groups defended the protest as democratic dissent. The Congress backed the students, even as investigations continue and political tensions escalate nationwide.
