Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah presented his 16th budget, with a major focus on minority welfare and infrastructure development. Key allocations include ₹1,000 crore for minority development, ₹150 crore for Waqf property protection, and a salary hike for imams and muezzins. Urdu medium schools receive ₹100 crore, while self-defense training and fee reimbursement for minority students have also been announced. The budget also increases salaries for temple, Jain, and Gurudwara priests. While BJP accuses Congress of appeasement politics, the government defends its welfare push, continuing free bus travel for women and allocating ₹1,800 crore to boost Bengaluru’s brand.
