After the laddoo ghee controversy, a fresh storm has hit the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams. Preliminary vigilance findings reveal that fake silk dupattas were allegedly supplied to TTD between 2015 and 2025, despite being billed as genuine silk. Nearly 15,000 dupattas were procured at ₹1,389 each, with the suspected fraud estimated at over ₹54 crore. Lab tests have confirmed that the material contains no silk at all. TTD Chairman B.R. Naidu flagged the suspicious pricing, prompting a deeper probe into tender manipulation and inflated billing. Political reactions have been swift, with Andhra Pradesh Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan stressing the need to separate faith from corruption. With two scams back-to-back, scrutiny on TTD administration is intensifying.
