India delivered a firm and unambiguous response at the United Nations Security Council as Permanent Representative Parvathaneni Harish strongly rebutted Pakistan’s claims and narrative. Calling out Pakistan’s “single-point agenda” against India, Harish exposed what he described as a false and self-serving account of Operation Sindoor, stating that it was the Pakistani military that sought a cessation of hostilities after suffering significant damage to its air bases. He reiterated that terrorism can never be treated as a “new normal” and warned against allowing the UN to become a platform to legitimise state-sponsored terror. Rejecting Pakistan’s comments on Jammu and Kashmir, Harish asserted that the Union Territory has always been, and will remain, an integral part of India. He also explained India’s decision to hold the Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance, citing decades of Pakistan-sponsored terror attacks and repeated violations of trust. The statement marked one of India’s strongest diplomatic interventions at the UN in recent times.
