When Apple dropped YouTube from iOS 6, there was a lot of heartburn. Now, Google has launched a YouTube app which is far superior than the original one and the imitations that followed. The interface in neat and clean, while the channel list can be summoned by just swiping form left to right. For a change the thumbnails and really large and this makes a huge difference to user experience. The videos can be easily shared to social networking sites.

Of the many DJ apps available, this one seems to be the most serious. The interface is not like a turn table as in many of these apps, so you will take some time to get the hang of this interface. However, the app has everything you will need to mix your own brand of music. You can tweak Deck A and B separately as well as mix the songs to your requirement. However, we missed a record/save feature.

A terrific scanner app, this one lets you click pictures and convert them into a proper document. Once the document has been clicked, the app finds its edges automatically, crops and straightens the images. It can also adjust the contrast so that background on the paper become invisible and text clearer. You can also merge, share and print document from the tablet itself.

Nokia's Here Maps stands apart from the rest due to the sheer detail that if offers. Especially effective in India, the apps shows nearby landmarks at the bottom of the page. You can also collect places so that you don't need to type the address every time. The route mapping works really well in India, while the live traffic updates are spot on.

A super photo editing software, this one lets you do things for which you will otherwise need a handful of apps. The best thing about the app is that photos can be tweaked by just running a finger over the picture. Along with the regular black and white and vintage, there are new drama and grunge effect which make this app really special. The other great feature is the ability to compare the results with the original.
