Connectivity Shortcuts (Windows Phone 7.5)
Microsoft has officially launched the new Windows Phone operating system in the country and we managed to lay our hands on the new OS. Rather than going to settings to access basics like Wi-fi, network, etc, you can install this Connectivity Shortcut app from Marketplace. This application has a window for four options- Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, mobile network and airplane mode. A simple tap gives access to the individual setting whereas tap. These four options can be added to the main screen tile individually as well. All you need to do is tap and long press the option.
Formula1.com (iOS, BlackBerry OS, Android OS, Symbian)
This is the official Formula1 application that every Formula1 lover would love to install from the respective app stores. Once installed, all a user needs to do is create an account by keying in the details such as email account, gender, name and year of birth. Once done, it shows the schedule for the current F1 race happening in different parts of the world. It also displays the information and countdown for the practice session along with the results. These details are listed in the user's local time to avoid time calculations for various countries. However, it has a tab at the bottom that talks of the race local time-it shows the time of the country where the race will take place.
Horoscope and Tarot (iOS)
Forget about your daily horoscope or Tarot readings in newspapers and news channels. Bring them on your mobile screen. The Horoscope and Tarot application gives a detailed prediction based on your sunsign. Launching the app lets you choose from Horoscopes, 2011 Horoscopes, Lovescope, Tarot reading and Psychics. If you opt for Horoscope and pick your sunsign, you will find an overview, daily, weekly and monthy predictions. There is also a tab for the 2011 Horoscope. The lovescopes too have similar options. For Tarot reading, it first requests to key in the name and then tap on the three cards for love, mood and career. And it shows predictions based on the card readings. Surprisingly, we have been using this application for quite some time now and the predictions are pretty accurate. Or is it just our imagination?
PVR Cinemas (iOS, Android OS)
PVR Cinemas has launched an app for booking at its theatres that is similar to the BookmyShow mobile application. When you install the app, you are first requested for an email ID and mobile number. Using location services, it detects the current location of the user. If you don't wish to activate location services, you can manually disable the option. The application allows the users to check show times of movies, select seats and book the tickets on the go. For this, the app has different tabs including movies, cinemas, deals, right now, now showing, coming soon and next change.There is also an option to locate the nearest theatre using a map. Under more options, there is a history option that keeps track of your movie booking history.
Mobile First Aid (Windows Phone 7.5)
Mobile First Aid is a utility application that comes handy in a emergency situation. Launching the app gives three options: emergency, learning and BLS sequence. The emergency tab helps you call for help, evaluate, enable location tracking. There is also a pathologies tab. 'Learning' teaches you basic first aid.
