LG OPTIMUS GPrice:
4.7 inch display, Android Jelly Bean, 13 MP camera
As we were waiting for the Google Nexus 4 and the recently announced Optimus G Pro
, LG decided to launch the Optimus G in India instead. Available for Rs 34,500, the LG Optimus G has a quad-core processor and a 13MP camera. That sounds really good on paper. But does it actually perform? The stylish rectangular body has a black glossy finish and a non-removable back. The Corning Gorilla Glass 2, an improvised version of the damage resistant glass, makes this device really sturdy and scratch resistant.
There is some port or button on each edge of the phone. Weighing 145 grams, it has a 4.7-inch IPS+ display with a 1280x768 pixel resolution. The bright display really impressed us and it was comfortable reading on it. The colour reproduction significantly enhanced the video experience. Though an Android Jelly Bean phone, this doesn't look much like the others of its ilk thanks to the Optimus user interface running over the Android UI. This was a surprise with animation effects that made the device faster than most other high-end smartphones. We also have to thank Qualcomm's Snapdragon S4 quad-core processor for this. This phone could handle multiple apps at the same time.
However, the camera was a bit of a spoiler and just about average. The 13MP shooter did a fairly good job in daylight, but used indoors or in low light the images ended up with a lot of noise. The 2,100mAh battery gave us a day on average use. BAG IT OR JUNK IT?
Good device, but there are better options out there.
