Review: Salora Power Maxx Z1

The battery, which can last more than two days with constant web connectivity and calling, is undoubtedly the best feature of this phone.

Salora Power Maxx Z1
Price: Rs 15,999
Specs: Android v4.0; 4.5-inch display; 1GHz dual-core processor, 512MB; 4GB internal storage, 32GB expandable; Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 3G; 170grams; 3200 mAh battery

The biggest challenge one faces with the Android smartphones today is the average battery life that hardly lasts a day between charges. Salora, with its first Android offering Power Maxx Z1, has packed in a huge 3200 mAh battery to address this issue and find a USP.

Usually, huge batteries and sleek smartphones don't go hand-in-hand. But Salora has managed to make the Power Maxx Z1 look good despite its extra large battery. The all-black design has a brushed metal finish around the display with a textured back. The 4.5-inch touch display has a 960 x 540 pixel resolution with rich colours and excellent viewing angles. The Z1 comes with a 1GHz dual-core processor. While it was okay while browsing the web, checking emails and downloading apps, the device slowed down when multiple apps were running in the background. It handled basic gaming with ease but is not meant for heavy graphic games.

There is a 8MP rear camera, but it is nothing to write home about. The results lacked brightness and was devoid of. However, the sound output was loud and impressive. The battery, which can last more than two days with constant web connectivity and calling, is undoubtedly the best feature of this phone.
