Detergent powder has replaced the washing bar in many households across India. Despite the increased demand, the prices of detergent powder have risen by an average of 6% a year since 1992. That’s a comforting statistic for harried consumers in these days of high inflation.

The price of a 500 gm pack of detergent powder was Rs 24 in 1992.

It now sells for Rs 60, a 150% rise in 16 years.

If the price of detergent powder keeps rising at the same rate, a 500 gm pack will cost Rs 150 in 2024.
