Road Projects
Six-laning of Jogeshwari Vikhroli link road, widening of Santa Cruz-Chembur and Ghatkopar-Mulund roads and flyovers at Jogeshwari, Vikhroli, Kurla and Mumbai Trans-Harbour link are planned

Transport
Construction of a fifth railway line from Borivali to Mahim, additional tracks from Thane to Kurla and Borivali to Virar will increase carrying capacity of suburban trains by 35%

SEZs
Navi Mumbai SEZ and Maha Mumbai SEZ will create organised commercial and office space development in the city. The location is close to the airport, port and the Mumbai-Pune Knowledge corridor

The new airport (scheduled to be completed by 2012) along with the two SEZs will make Navi Mumbai a business hub

The city has grown along the northwestern and north-eastern axis along the main rail and road arteries. But with the creation of an east-west corridor and improved connectivity, peripheral areas like Thane and Navi Mumbai will benefit
