Vijayawada is a major transit point and an important link connecting two industrial zones of Andhra Pradesh—Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam.
Good connectivity has played a major role in the industrial development of Vijayawada. Two national highways link the city to Chennai, Kolkata and Mumbai. The new deep-water port under construction at Machilipatnam will add to the city’s real estate appeal.
Some upcoming projects that could influence real estate prices in future
1. Airport expansion
With the expansion of runway, to be done in three phases, bigger aircraft will be able to land at Gannavaram airport. Increase in flights would pave way for rapid growth of the IT industry
2.Industrial Corridor
The state government plans to set up Hyderabad-Vijayawada-Visakhapatnam Growth Corridor to boost industrial growth in the state. An IT park is being set up at Kesarapalli village
3. BRTS
Six corridors have been identified for the Bus Rapid Transit System.The first corridor covers APSRTC Bus Stand, Satyanarayanapuram, Eluru Road, Benz Circle and Bandar Road
4. Hyderabad-Vijayawada expressway
State government plans to build a high-speed corridor between Hyderabad and Vijayawada. Four-laning has been completed between Vijayawada and Nandigama (50 km) and Hyderabad and Malkapuram (40 km).The remaining 181-km stretch will now be four-laned
Investment in infrastructure
Improvement in traffic and transport infrastructure is the highest on the priority list of investments planned under the new city master plan.The first phase of the BRTS project was sanctioned in March 2007
