Portable Bluetooth speakers are such a rage today that almost every company dealing in audio products has one. Soen Audio, the US brand, is offering the Transit to enjoy music on the move. Done in matte black, the straight line design of the Transit looks elegant. A kickstand added to the back supports the stand on almost any surface. But it isn't the lightest portable speaker around. Volume controls and a shuffle key are at the top of the speaker while the power switch, micro USB and bass port are on the left edge. A magnetic cover protects the grills and ports from dust. The inbuilt battery can be charged using a micro USB cable. Aimed at Apple lovers, the Transit supports Bluetooth connectivity but lacks AirPlay. The speaker instantly paired with our iPod Touch. We were also able to connect the device using an auxiliary cable. Sound quality was good but it is not the best speaker around. It handled vocals with clarity but lacked bass. When heard individually, it sounded good. But when I tested it against my JBL Flip, the latter offered better sound and clarity. On a single charge, the Soen Transit streamed music over Bluetooth for close to six hours.
