The LG HW300G is another portable projector with good looks, has a fine projection and a fat price. The sleek and stylish design of the HW300G is among the best around. The straight lines on the body make the device look elegant and maybe even gel with your home decor. The controls are on the top and it comes with a remote too. The connectivity options are in the form of a USB port, HDMI port and VGA port.
The projected images and videos were superb, easily creating a cinema-like environment within our lab. The colours were good and the images and videos looked sharp. While the playback was good, we could further enhance it by choosing from the preset options like vivid, standard, game, cinema and sport or manually adjust display brightness, contrast and colour. The HW300G can play media formats such as DIVX, MP3, JPEG and MPEG4 on it.
LG claims its 300 lumen LED lamp can last up to 30,000 hours. Above all, it starts up within two seconds and also shuts down as quickly. But the good news ends there. The sound from the unit was poor, even worse than the BenQ GP2. In time the projector generated so much heat that it became difficult to sit near it.
BAG IT OR JUNK IT? The price goes against this.
