Spice Mi-438
Price: Rs 5,199
Rating: 4.5/5
Specs: 4 inch display; 2MP rear camera; Android Jelly Bean; 1.3GHz dual core processor; 512 MB RAM; 4GB internal storage; expandable card slot; 1350 mAh battery
This new affordable smartphone from Spice Mobile has got a 4 inch display packed in a plastic shell. My review unit had a light golden, glossy finish on the sides and the back, that made it feel cheap. The 3.5 mm jack and charging port are placed at the top, while the power key and volume controls on the right panel. The 4 inch display comes with 480 x 800 pixel resolution. Just below the display are the three touch keys - multitasking, home and back. The touch response is good but the overall user experience isn't worth praising.
Running Android Jelly Bean 4.2, Spice has added a 1.3Ghz dual core processor to this phone. It is paired with 512 MB of RAM. The custom UI isn't user friendly and I had to install a third party launcher. The web browsing experience was smooth, however, the phone slowed down while downloading apps from the app store.
This phone isn't the one that can support multitasking. Also, the phone comes with 4GB internal storage, out of which only 1.27GB is available. It is a dual SIM phone support two GSM connections. The 2MP rear camera is just about average. The 1.3 MP front facing camera is bad and can't be used for capturing selfies.
Indeed, Spice Mi 438 comes nowhere near the competition.
