Multiple core processors seem to be the next big thing for Indian tablet makers. While many have started shipping tablets with dual-core processors, Zync has pushed the envelope by adding a quadcore to its new slate. The name, Zync
Quad 8, itself says a lot about this eight-inch tablet.
The design is almost plastic-free and the tablet seems to prefer a vertical orinetation. The iPad-like aluminum finish on the back makes this stand out from others in this range. The eight-inch touch display has a 2MP front facing camera on top. An HDMI port, microSD card slot and microUSB connector are placed on bottom edge. The proprietary charging port is placed next to the speaker, but wasn't able to hold the charger comfortably and got disconnected often.
The Quad 8 powered up in less than 20 seconds and was ready for use. It offers the stock Android Jelly Bean interface without any tweaks. Along with the regular apps that are usually installed on every Android tablet, the Quad 8 also had 4k Video Player, dev tools and FireReader.
The 1.5GHz quad-core processor is paired with a 2GB DDR3 RAM and as a result apps launched quickly and multi-tasking was incident-free. However, its Quadrant Benchmark score of 3006 was below par when compared to other quad-core devices. But that is okay considering the price.
BAG IT OR JUNK IT?
A good tablet for the price.
