This is how some countries reward honest taxpayers!

Tax season in Japan is like Christmas, thanks to the government's little known 'Furusato Nozei' tax incentive scheme. By donating taxes to specific areas of the city, taxpayers are rewarded with gifts.What's more, model taxpayers can even get a photograph taken with the emperor!

Pakistan rewards the top 100 taxpayers every year with access to VIP lounges at airports, fast-track clearance at immigration counters, free passports and enhanced baggage allowance.

The tiny nation of Malta has been running a popular lottery since 1997. Taxpayers submit physical and electronic VAT receipts. A public draw is held on the 15th of every month. The lucky winner bags a cash prize amounting to 100 times the tax paid and multiple prizes are given away until the monthly budget is exhausted.

Privilege cards are offered to those who are compliant taxpayers by the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) of Sri Lanka. These cards provide benefits such as special treatment from government bodies like Customs and the Police Service, preferential treatment at the airport, as well as several other concessions, including leasing facilities for the purchase of vehicles and office equipment at reduced interest rates.. These cards are, however, only issued to high net worth taxpayers.

The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) hosts an annual taxpayers' week during which the most distinguished taxpayers in the country are rewarded with certificates. Activities such as tax clinics, tax education sessions, and community based initiatives take place, aimed at supporting the needy within society. A special taxpayers' luncheon is also held during which awards are given to compliant taxpayers.

The Mauritius
Revenue Authority (MRA) introduced a lottery draw in 2012 which allowed all taxpayers who filed their returns electronically to automatically participate in the lottery draw and prizes were given away.
