German luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz on Tuesday launched the petrol version of its premium SUV 'GLS 400 4MATIC' priced at Rs 82.90 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
With the launch of the new vehicle, the company said it has completed the petrol option offerings along with diesel variants for all the models that it sells in India.
At the heart of the new GLS 400 is a 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine that is tuned to churn out 329 bhp of peak power and 480Nm of peak torque at as low as 1600 rpm. The engine comes coupled to a ninespeed automatic transmission. The GLS 400 will be available in two colours in India - Polar White and Obsidian Black.
The GLS 400 4MATIC petrol, has been launched in just three months of the introduction of the diesel variant, underlining Mercedes-Benz India's strategy of introducing the best products from the global portfolio in the shortest possible time, the company said in a statement.
Mercedes-Benz India Managing Director and CEO Roland Folger said this the fifth SUV variant we introduced this year, further bolstering our portfolio which remains the most comprehensive in the luxury car segment.
On upcoming launches, Folger said, ``We have five more products to be introduced in the coming months, including ones without any predecessor. With the upcoming festive season and a resurgence of customer sentiment, we have a positive outlook for the remainder of the year.''
In July, the company had stated that it would have petrol versions of all its models sold in India by September as it looks to tide over uncertainties over diesel vehicles in the wake of pollution concern and the eight-month ban imposed by the Supreme Court ban on over 2,000cc diesel cars in Delhi/NCR.
