AAP MP Raghav Chadha raised concerns in over the growing challenges faced by India’s digital content creators due to arbitrary copyright strikes by online platforms. He said millions now earn livelihoods as educators, reviewers, satirists, musicians and influencers, yet their work is often taken down by automated algorithms without due process. Chadha stressed that fair use is not piracy and that transformative content such as commentary, satire and critique should not be treated as copyright violations. He highlighted that India’s Copyright Act of 1957 was drafted in a pre-digital era and fails to recognise digital creators. Chadha urged amendments to define digital fair use clearly and demanded mandatory due process before any content takedown, warning that creativity cannot survive under fear.
