At the Hoover Institution in Stanford, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman underscored India’s transformation under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership over the past decade. She emphasized the government's focus on transparency, simplification, and stability — describing the shift to “maximum governance, minimum government” as a much-needed correction not only for India but for emerging economies across the globe. Interestingly, Sitharaman also pointed out how even European countries are now grappling with bureaucratic undergrowth, once seen as the pioneers of good governance. In contrast, she positioned India as better prepared for today's volatile and uncertain global landscape, thanks to years of relentless reform in taxation, governance, and anti-corruption.
