In Nepal, the incessant monsoon rains have resulted in tragic consequences, claiming the lives of 14 people due to landslides, flooding, and inundations. Many others remain missing as rescue operations continue amidst the ongoing devastation. The situation has exacerbated downstream in Bihar, where the Nepal government's release of water has led to heavy flows in the Kosi barrage, impacting local communities. Neighboring Uttar Pradesh is also grappling with severe floods, particularly in areas like Pilibhit near the Nepal border, where villages have been inundated and the city isolated. In Shravasti, 255 people have been rescued from 22 villages, while in Meerut, commuting has become perilous on water-filled roads. Uttarakhand has witnessed infrastructure damage, with a bridge collapse near Mohan on the Ranikhet road, forcing risky river crossings by locals. Across Madhya Pradesh, including Gwalior, villagers have had to rescue livestock, exemplifying the widespread impact of this year's intense monsoon, following a record heatwave in June across the country.
