Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, announced key enhancements to the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, addressing long-pending demands from farmers. Speaking in Delhi, he said two critical types of crop losses—damage caused by wild animals and damage due to flooding or waterlogging from excessive rainfall—will now be officially covered under the scheme. Chouhan said farmers suffering such losses will receive compensation, ensuring stronger financial protection and improved risk coverage. The minister called the update “good news” for farmers nationwide and a major step toward safeguarding livelihoods against climate-related and wildlife-related challenges.
