The 45-day Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 has kicked off on the sacred banks of Sangam in Prayagraj. This grand spiritual gathering coincides with Makar Sankranti, attracting nearly ten million devotees on its opening day. Spanning from January 13 to February 26, the Uttar Pradesh government anticipates a staggering 450 million visitors during the event, making it the largest congregation of humanity on the planet. The Maha Kumbh is not just a spiritual phenomenon but also a massive economic and cultural spectacle. With an estimated ₹2 lakh crore economic spinoff, it promises to uplift local economies by benefiting self-help groups, artisans, hoteliers, homestay operators, restaurant owners, and food vendors. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath envisions the Maha Kumbh as a transformative event, projecting ₹25,000 crore in government revenue. The scale of preparations underscores the significance of this festival, blending spiritual devotion, cultural heritage, and economic growth.
