In a bid to increase electricity generation in Uttar Pradesh, four new thermal power units will be set up in different parts of the state by private players.
The Energy Task Force (ETF) in its meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Atul Kumar Gupta has approved proposals to set up power units of 3480 megawatt in the state, official sources said on Saturday.
Of these, a 1980 MW power plant would be set up by Bajaj Hindustan in Bargarh area of Chitrakoot district, they said adding that 100 per cent of the power generated by the unit will be supplied to UP.
Similarly, two units of 250 MW each will be set up by Parikh Aluminium Limited and Unitech Machines Limited in Farukkhabad and Auraiya districts, respectively.
During its meeting, the ETF also gave conditional approval for setting up of a 1000 MW thermal plant by Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation in Greater Noida. "It was stated that the government will provide land and water for the project provided 30 per cent of the electricity generated by the plant is supplied at variable cost," the sources said.
