Airtel 3G goes live in Delhi
India's leading telecom operator  Bharti Airtel launched its 3G mobile and data services for Delhi NCR on Thursday. Backed by a robust network of 1,800-plus 3G sites, the company aims to offer seamless 3G experience to over 76 lakh Airtel subscribers in Delhi, Gurgaon, Faridabad and Noida.

To activate 3G services, Delhi subscribers can call 12134 or send an SMS to 121. Once the subscriber receives a confirmation message, the 2G Data Plan will be de-activated and post confirmation, 3D Data Plan "Pay As You Go" will be activate. This will be charged at 30p/20kb. The company has various plans including Sachet plan, Standard plans and FlexiShield Plan. All video calls will be charged at 5p/sec and the voice call and SMS plans will continue to remain the same.

Today, with just over a month since our rollout began, our 3G network covers around half a million customers, has 4,500 sites and is available across 7 cities" said Atul Bindal, President-Mobile Services, Bharti airtel. "We are definitely witnessing the tipping point of non-voice and data explosion in this country and will be bringing the Airtel 3G advantage pan-India soon as promised." he added.

Airtel has launched its 3G network in 7 cities (Bengaluru, Chennai, Coimbatore, Mysore, Manipal, Udipi and Jaipur) before Delhi NCR and plans to launch it in all 13 circles by March 2011.
